The reason...I'm starting this blog as a personal documentation on my journey (well, I should say our journey since I'm married!) to achieving financial freedom. Millions would be nice, but we'd just like to be able to retire early and do things we enjoy without worrying about the cost. I'm not talking about buying a yacht, but wine tasting trips in Italy? Absolutely. We're just trying to get there.
My background? I've been married for 10 years to the love of my life. I'm 31, he's 32. We have three babies 7, 5 and 2. For now I stay at home, but I also work part-time from home too. That brings in a little extra. I'm also going back to college this fall (didn't do so well the first go round) to finish my degree so I can work full-time once all the babies are in school.
We should be more than able to live off his salary and build up a good savings. However, our grocery budget is out of control (I know that's my fault!) and we need to rein in our spending. I don't, however, want to do that at the expense of living a life of no frills and excitement. So, we're trying to find the right balance of enjoying today but also planning for tomorrow.
And tomorrow is when I will begin! I'll have a list of my goals, whether it's for that day/week/month and then track how good I'm doing at achieving those. You're welcome to follow along and learn from my mistakes...I'm sure there will be plenty!
